CURRICULUM OVERVIEW:
KINDERMUSIK TOTAL CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLASSES

The scientifically developed Kindermusik curriculum is divided into four age groups: "Village" designed for newborn to 20 months, "Our Time" for 18 months to 4 years, "Imagine That!" for 3 1/2 to 5 years, and "Young Child" for 5 to 7 years.

Imagine your child swinging softly in a blanket or dancing with you around a maypole. Fulfilling your baby's endless early potential is an exciting opportunity that starts with the Kindermusik Village program. Kindermusik Village provides a delightful environment unlike any other. In class, learn how to stimulate your child's learning through vocal play, object exploration, and creative movement. For your home, we provide you with more tools to continue the enrichment through bonding with your baby by reading the Baby's Literature Book or listening to the special CD together. These are just two of the resources included in the Kindermusik At-Home Materials Kit. You'll delight as you watch your new baby's total growth and development unfold in class and at home. THE "SIGN & SING" PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN 6 MONTHS TO 3 YEARS

Playtime and everyday items around the house - such as a ball, bubbles, and family members - are learning themes in this introduction to American Sign Language for a child and caregiver. Experienced signers will benefit from the session's four, research-proven strategies shown to speed language development in hearing children, developed by the child developoment and sign language experts Signing Smart™. With the DVD's visual dictionary showing parents and children making over 60 signs, plus a pocket-sized set of flashcards of thepictures and the words of the signs, you'll easily incorporate sign language into your daily routines, favorite nursery rhymes, and stories. Can you hop like a bunny? Or sound like an elephant? Singing, imitating sounds, rhyming, and object identification foster language skills. The Kindermusik Our Time program encourages your child to uncover an engaging musical world while building confidence, self-control and communications skills. Listening promotes focused attention, and turn-taking encourages blossoming social skills. Creative movement and identifying "musical moods" create a sense of balance, timing, and spatial awareness. The Adventures program turns an ordinary summer into an extraordinary learning journey with theme-based camps where your child discovers the joy of craft-making, music, drama, movement, and dance. Kindermusik Adventures is a fun summer camp program designed to provide children with engaging, thematic activities that excite the mind and imagination through music and movement. Available during the summer months.

The Kindermusik Imagine That! program is designed especially for the active, energetic, enthusiastic, and imaginative 3, 4, and 5-year-old. Imagine That! encourages socialization, sharing, and participating in group activities. Singing becomes a focus for enhancing the preschooler's vocal development as his or her expressive language is just beginning to emerge. The child's quickly developing power of imagination is used as a tool to explore creativity and individuality. Parents are invited to participate in the last 15 minutes of "Sharing Time" during the 45-minute class. Currently unavailable for spring semester.

The Kindermusik Young Child program gives your child a love of music that will last a lifetime! Too often, parents rush their children into formal music lessons before they are fully ready. Kindermusik's Young Child is a unique program that teaches your child to develop the singing voice, move gracefully to music, play pre-keyboard, string and wind instruments, and even read music (!), in a fun, pressure-free, developmentally appropriate setting. A one-room schoolhouse approach to music. With older children ready to show the little ones how it's done and the younger ones eager to learn, Family Time becomes a multi-layered learning environment. Each week, a Kindermusik Educator will introduce basic musical concepts and then give you the instruments, and the structured free time to put those concepts into play. Currently unavailable for spring semester.

Simply Music is the breakthrough Australian developed piano and keyboard program which is based on a premise that everyone is innately and profoundly musical. By drawing on this natural sense of music we all possess, we are able to learn and play the piano – immediately – from the very first lessons.

The Simply Music program is a ‘playing-based' approach to music education where students’ existing visual, aural and physical skills, combined with their natural sense of music, help to achieve unprecedented results in piano playing. With playing as a foundation, music theory and note reading is introduced in a natural progression of learning just as we talk way before developing reading and writing skills.

The bottom line is that Simply Music students get to experience the absolute joy and satisfaction that comes from immediately acquiring a huge repertoire of great-sounding music, and thereby having music as a a lifelong companion!
