THE "VILLAGE" PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN NEWBORN TO 20 MONTHS

The Village program incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and networking with other parents and babies through music, movement and sensory stimuli.

In the Kindermusik Village program, your new baby is encouraged to learn through observation, imitation, and play. The high quality, professionally created At-Home Materials Kit includes important information about the Kindermusik "Foundations of Learning" principles based on current research on how to nurture your baby's total development.

Kindermusik Village benefits
you and your baby by:

• Nurturing the bond between you and your child through intentional touch, exercises, interactive dances, rocking, and musical play.

• Laying a solid foundation for future learning in all areas of your baby's total development through singing and reading aloud, listening, communicating through literature, and exploring instruments in a stimulating environment.

• Stimulating the growth of neural connections in the brain with multi-sensory and multilayered experiences.

• Helping you network and connect with other families, and encouraging joyful participation in a music making community.

• Educating you about your baby's total development through the Kindermusik Foundations of Learning statements that explain why we do what we do.

Kindermusik At-Home Materials Kit for Village includes:

• Baby's Literature Book: A board book with delightful, colorful artwork.
• Baby's Home Journal: A scrapbook-like book that includes home activity cards.

Village Zoom Buggy & Dream Pillow Units — Fall 2010

All the small exchanges between you and your baby in the first years help him/her feel loved and form a core of your baby’s emotional development and outlook on life and learning. How many ways can Baby and Parent zoom in Village?  Hop in the Zoom Buggy! and find out!  Through a variety of songs, chants, and instrumental selections you and Baby will experience the rumbling of a baby buggy, the squeaky stroller, the bumpa bumpa bumpa of the wagon, the train chugging up the track and much more.

Like all Kindermusik Village units, the Dream Pillow unit is written with the parent very much in mind. But the baby is the star in Dream Pillow, with each activity carefully planned to stimulate the developing brain and promote physical, social, cognitive, emotional and language development. In this unit, it is the parent who is watching and guiding the little star on the rise. Enjoy "Skinnamarink" and many other of your own favorite childhood songs!

THE "OUR TIME" PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN 18 MONTHS TO 3 1/2 YEARS

The Kindermusik Our Time program is designed for children 18 months to 3 1/2 years of age who meet weekly for 45-minute classes and enjoy singing, moving, listening and interacting socially, as well as playing simple instruments along with an accompanying parent or caregiver. During the Our Time program parents and children enjoy bonding and interacting socially with others.

"Exploration Time" encourages a child's discovery of specially designed instruments, textures, sounds and movements. Language skills are fostered with singing, sound imitation, and vocal play.

"Music and Movement Story Time" encourages your child's emergent literacy skills. The development of pitch and rhythm promotes musicality, and creative dancing and expressive movement affirm a child's urge to move.

Kindermusik's Our Time program benefits
you and your toddler by:

• Nurturing the bond between you and your child through shared learning and musical experiences.

• Recognizing your toddler's need for both the freedom to explore and the assurance of your support.

• Laying a solid foundation for learning in all future academic and musical areas: language and speech development, pre-reading skills, problem solving, patterning, pitch, rhythm, timing, singing.

• Promoting joyful music making as a community, and helping you network and connect with other families.

Our Time Milk and Cookies Unit — Fall 2010

Imagine the aroma of baking cookies, the coziness of the family kitchen, the chatter among sisters, brothers, grandmas, granddads, mom and dad, and the anticipation and excitement of having friends come to visit. These moments at home are times to be shared and treasured. These special moments are captured in Our Time Milk & Cookies. Home activities such as baking cookies, eating cupcakes, blowing on hot cross buns, wiggling like jelly, going grocery shopping, and making tea are all represented in familiar clasroom songs and activities! Most importantly, Our Time Milk and Cookies songs and activities promote interaction between parent and child where the parent gently guides their child's learning through a process of scaffolding. Capturing the security, excitement and familiarity of "at home" moments is the ideal theme for empowering the parent to act as the child's most importantteacher. What better way for parents to lead their child than with familiar, everyday home activities such as cooking in the kitchen, dusting, and washing clothes with music to guide these activities? Home is where learning truly takes place and where happy memories are made.

Hello Weather, Let's Play Together Unit — Fall 2010

Books, storytelling, language, drama, puppets - these are all essential ingredients to the Imagine That! Curriculum where musical learning takes place in a natural and “playful” setting.  Each acts as a dramatic catalyst for integrating thematic songs, activities, events, and feelings.  Hello, Weather! Let's Play Together encourages preschoolers to get “outdoors” and make music in all types of weather!  Children will explore a variety of musical concepts, continuing their development of musical growth and journey through songs, movements, instrumental exploration and dramatic play. Each child’s contributions are honored and respected in this process-oriented learning environment.  Parents attend the last 15 minutes of class.

THE "FAMILY TIME" PROGRAM FOR NEWBORNS TO 4 YEARS

Specially designed to fit the varying ages and learning abilities of children newborn to 5 years old, this curriculum will help you bring the learning and the music making home, as well as become a lasting well-loved family favorite of the Kindermusik experience.  In this mixed age classroom setting, you and your child attend class together as parents continue to model and contribute to the music making community.  But babies and younger children also learn from the social interactions with older peers, while older children are given the opportunity to lead and model for the younger peers.  Each child, regardless of his developmental level, participates at his own level in a non-performance, pressure-free music making “family” environment.

You and your child will enjoy music and movement with instruments, scarves and tumble-around play. Story time and family jams, puppet play and happy singing - all the Family Time activities encourage discovery and exploration and foster sharing and social skills too. In this special place for musical, social and emotional learning, your child will strengthen his ties with you - and he'll start developing the skills he'll need in school and on the neighborhood playground.

Kindermusik's Family Time program benefits you and your family by:
